Argentina is the seventh largest country in the world, and it is located in the extreme south of Latin America. Spanish Language for Brazilian Students
The University Language Center has developed the MERCOSUR Spanish Language Program for Brazilian students only, seizing the linguistic and cultural similarities between Brazil and Argentina. Students are able to attend a complete cycle of 60 hours of classes, in half the time needed to complete the regular program.
The MERCOSUR Program also includes a Teacher Training Upper Cycle specially designed for Brazilian teachers of Spanish willing to update and deepen their knowledge on the language and culture of our country.
Housing in Buenos Aires
The University Language Center offers a network of family homes specially selected to provide housing to all students enrolled in the Spanish for Foreign Students.
These homes are located in the residential areas of the city of Buenos Aires, with easy and quick access to the University Language Center.
Housing includes:
- Individual room
- Breakfast
- Clean bed linen and towels once a week
- Free access to the kitchen and common areas
- No time restrictions to enter or leave the family house.
- Students are also offered transfer from the airport. This service is offered only to those students having housing arrangements.

Specialty programmes in Spanish are available to Brazilian and Chinese students, to facilitate their cultural and language needs.
Cultural Activities
The Spanish Language Program for Foreign Students combines the learning process inside the classroon with weekly outdoors cultural activities specially designed to encourage and motivate this learning process while enjoying the beauty and culture of Buenos Aires. Cultural activities are coordinated and guided in Spanish by professionals and teachers . All travel expenses are included in the course fee.

Study abroad at the University Language Centre of the University of Buenos
The University Language Center, part of the School of Agronomy of the University of Buenos Aires, is at the present time the most important of its kind in all of Latin America, with more than 20,000 students of English, French, Portuguese, Italian, German, Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew, Arabic, Aboriginal Languages and Spanish for Foreign Students.
The School of Agronomy Spanish Language Program for Foreign Students - University of Buenos Aires was created in 1998 with the objective of providing an institutional answer to the great demand of students and travelers from around the world who were coming to Buenos Aires to learn the language as well as the culture of the country. Since then the program has not stopped growing and improving itself according to the needs of the students.
Located in the heart of the city of Buenos Aires in modern buildings, the University Language Center offers spacious classrooms with audio and video resources, library, auditorium, and multimedia workshop. The International Studies Department personally attends to each student during his/her stay in Buenos Aires.

Its unique charming neighborhoods make a foreign visitor feel surprised by the unexpected. Like all cosmopolitan cities it combines tradition and modernism. A remarkable European influence in its buildings, multiculturalism depicted in every corner of the city, a daily and nightly feverish rhythm and the people´s well-known affectionate hospitality are some of its main features. Buenos Aires is also the birthplace of “tango”, that captivating sensual dance that has become popular worldwide.
Programs & Courses
The University Language Center has developed the Spanish Language Program for Foreign Students by combining the outstanding academic level of the UBA with the modern approaches and technology used in language teaching by a team of wide experienced teachers.
The courses are offered in two levels of intensity: regular and intensive.
Regular Courses:
60 hours that are completed in one month, 3 hour classes Monday through Friday - 15 hour classes every week
Intensive Courses:
60 hours that are completed in two weeks , 6 hour class Monday through Friday - 30 hour classes each week. (These courses are only available for pre-arranged groups)
Registration to all courses can be made at our International Studies Department until two working days before their starting date or two weeks in advance by sending the registration form through our web page.

Spanish Language for Chinese Students
One of the Program’s advantages is that it has a special initial course which consists of two levels taught in both Spanish and Chinese.
The purpose of this course is to provide the basic elements of the Spanish language and of the Western culture in which this language is spoken; as well as to set the suitable conditions so that these students can then enter the GENERAL PROGRAM with students of other nationalities. In this second stage, Chinese students are offered specialized supervision and 40 additional hours of back-up lessons.
